Installation
- Sound Around Kid – install on the parent's phone, then get a 6‑digit pairing code.
- SoarKid - install on the child's phone, enter the code you received.
- Grant all required permissions inside the SoarKid app.
SoarKid Setup
You can check granted permissions on the
Settings page in the app (tap the "three dots" menu in the top‑right corner and select "Settings").
For stable operation, the following permissions must be granted:
- Location - select "Allow all the time" / "While using the app".
- Background location - select "Allow all the time". Important: After granting these permissions, the main service of the app starts. It monitors the phone status and sends it to the parent.
- Microphone - select "Allow all the time" / "While using the app". If you select "Ask every time", listening to the child may not work from the background (when the app is minimised or closed).
- Disable battery optimization - turn off battery optimization for SoarKid so that Android does not kill the app in the background or restrict the microphone.
- Notifications - allow notifications for the app. On some Android versions, background operation will not work without this.
- Autostart - on some phone models (Xiaomi, Huawei, Honor, Realme, Oppo, Vivo, Asus, and others) there is an autostart setting for apps. It is recommended to add SoarKid to the autostart list.
The parent app Sound Around Kid does not require any special settings – only Notifications must be allowed.
It is recommended to periodically check that the app is working properly – for example, before the child leaves the house.
SoarKid won't connect?
Make sure
Location and
Background location permissions are granted.
Important: On newer Android versions,
location must also be enabled in the system settings (via the top quick settings panel).
No sound / parent can't hear anything?
Make sure
Microphone permission is granted in SoarKid.
Important: Starting from
Android 12 and higher, background microphone access is more strictly limited due to Android security policies.
For example, if the phone is restarted, the app with microphone permissions cannot start automatically. In this case, to make the listening service work again, you need to open the SoarKid app once (then you can minimise it).
Android limitations
After some time, the phone may close all background services to save resources. Due to microphone restrictions, the listening service may not restart automatically.
On Android 12 and higher, when the app uses the microphone, a special indicator appears in the status bar (a green dot / microphone icon).
Exiting the app
Open SoarKid → tap the "three dots" menu in the top‑right corner → select Exit. All services will be stopped.
Reinstalling the app
If the app has been reinstalled, you need to pair the devices again.
Go to system settings for Sound Around Kid (parent app). Clear app data and cache (or simply uninstall and reinstall the parent app).
Launch Sound Around Kid – a new 6‑digit code will appear. Enter this code into SoarKid on the child's phone during first launch.
